Tom shot this Bear in August 2011!
Capt Tom recently returned from Ontario, Canada where he shot this 300 pound Black Bear on the opening day of Bear season. Capt Tom writes:
I parked the 4 wheeler called "bike" a 1/2 mile away from my stand and stalked in at 1725 after a 6.2 mile ride into the "bush". I saw a huge Deer track that was being followed by the biggest Timber Wolf track that I have ever seen. I also saw a fresh large Moose track on the same closed logging road. I turned off of the road to my stand and heard something large walking in the tree line to my right and heading towards my stand. I hid in the shadows and very slowly walked behind the noise keeping it at my 10 o'clock. As I approached my stand and peaked from the shadows of the tall grass and berries I was met eye to eye with this big Bear at 30 yards. Carl, the Outfitter, told me not to shoot a small one or a female. He told me that there was a large Boar Bear there and not to shoot the first one I saw. He said it was his "Ace in Hole stand". Stan, a 74 year old veteran Bear hunter, told me that I would shoot the first one I saw. I told him that I had to shoot the big male Bear.
I had to decide weather or not to shoot in less than 1.5 seconds. All of the talk about not shooting the first Bear that I have ever seen was racing through my mind as I evaluated the Bear eye to eye. The Bear was deciding weather to fight for the food and berries or leave. He must have seen the serious look in my eye and turned to run off as I found his shoulder through the trees. I decided he was the big Boar Bear as he wheeled showing me his massive size. I raised my .300 Jarret Magnum for a snap shot that knocked him over in his tracks nailing him through both shoulders.
Tom shot these two monsters in Sept 2009!
Huge 7X6 Elk scoring 414 3/8 inches and weighting over 1400 pounds.
Larry Weishun "Mr. Whitetail" was filming a whitetail deer hunt at the hunting camp during my hunt! It was the hunt of a lifetime!
This huge 20 point Whitetail scored 208 6/8 inches and weighted over 300 pounds! An awesome day of hunting with two record book trophies in one day.
The hunting lodge over looks the hills, meadows and valleys in a spectacular view!
We ate Elk for all three meals. Elk sausage, roast Elk or Elk stew where my favorites. Professional guides are full service including transporting, cleaning, and scoring. The owner takes you and your trophy to a World Record taxidermist for mounting! Transportation to and from the airport is included. A great experience for any age. Family and group hunts of 4-5 will get the entire hunting lodge to themselves. All meals are provided.
